Before a callback
Hilshire Village garage door repair checklist
Use this checklist to describe the problem clearly without touching dangerous hardware. The goal is a safer, more focused callback about the symptom, likely repair path, access, and timing.
Information worth gathering
- Whether the door is stuck open, stuck closed, crooked, heavy, noisy, reversing, or moving only a few inches.
- Photos of the full door, spring tube, cables, tracks, rollers, opener rail, wall button area, sensors, bottom seal, and any damaged panel.
- Opener brand, keypad/remote behavior, blinking-light pattern, and whether the issue followed a storm, outage, impact, or maintenance attempt.
- Door size if known, ceiling clearance, driveway access, gate instructions, pets, parking, storage near the garage, and preferred callback windows.
Safety notes
Do not loosen springs, cables, brackets, drums, or hinges. Avoid standing under a door that is partly open, and do not keep cycling an opener against a stuck or crooked door. If the door is open overnight or a vehicle is trapped, mention that clearly so urgency can be understood during follow-up.
